Magisterial District Judge, James Edgecomb has a brand new courthouse to call home in Elkland, PA. He had outgrown the former location and was grateful for all the safety upgrades the new building would provide. “I am very blessed to be able to serve the community and to do it in this facility.”

Thanks to an exceptional group of hard working individuals under project manager, Marc Rice, this project was finished two months ahead of schedule and approximately $200,000 under budget.

Commissioner Roger Bunn was the MC for the day. He graciously thanked all the public servants present including law enforcement, former commisioners & judges while also recognizing all involved for their dedication.

Commissioner Erick Coolidge explained how important Act 13 was to realizing this endeavor without which this project could not have been completed aside from borrowing. Act 13 of 2012 provides for the imposition of an unconventional gas well fee (also called an impact fee), and the distribution of those funds to local and state governments. Commissioner Mark Hamilton called Act 13 funds “an absolute godsend.”

Manager of Architecture, Peter Folen spoke briefly saying, “Any successful project is the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people.” He worked closely with Steve Hughes, project manager of CBF Contracting, Inc. and recognized him as “the reason we are here today,” significantly ahead of schedule.

“It wasn’t that big a deal,” Hughes humbly replied and recognized his team instead. He was thankful to all the residents for their cooperation and understanding. “It was a pleasure working in the town of Elkland.”
