Movin’ Together – With Thanksgiving
Mansfield University professor Dr. Nicolle Mayo joined me in the studio to discuss the Movin’ Together tool of thanks. How does thanksgiving change our life perspective? As scripture encourages us in Philippians 4:6,7; Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I sometimes struggle with anxiety, so this scripture has become one that I meditate on while doing my quiet time with God. As I love God, I want to understand how to follow Him in peace and joy, trusting His care for me.
How can we pray with thanksgiving before seeing the good God intends for us? As Nicolle says in this broadcast, anxiety is connected to fear, and she says that we forget that God is in control and we can trust His care for us. As we thank God in prayer and supplication, we acknowledge His presence to guide our path.
Nicolle mentioned that the following acronym, AWCIPA represents a way to use daily for our time with God. The following list gives the meaning of the letters in the acronym; A (Admire – Psalm 8:9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth ), W (Wait quietly – Psalm 46:10 Be Still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth), C (Confess sins – 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness), I (Intercede for others – James 5:16 The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective ), P (Petition – Psalm 51:10-12 – Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. ), A (Admire – Psalm 8:9)
I pray that we all take advantage of our time with our family and friends during this Thanksgiving holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
