Time: Choosing What Matters Most

Don’t just prioritize your schedule; schedule your priorities.

Most of us know we would like to see changes for a healthier outcome this year in each of our lives. Maybe this is the year we quit smoking, lose those COVID pounds, or walk away from relying on alcoholic beverages. Each new year gives us the opportunity for a fresh start!

I have two main priorities that direct my life and put passion in my days! Number one is to learn ways to be healthy and pass it on to my family, friends, and the Home Page audience through Movin’ Together. My second priority is to spend time with God, my family, and my friends. The guests on this broadcast have become my friends, and they will become yours over time too!

In my 70 years, I have not regularly followed the schedule of brushing my teeth in the morning because I did not see its importance or I was just too busy to stop! But we are never too old to change! Starting in the new year, part of my preparation for the day is making our bed and brushing my teeth. My daughter Julianna also brushes her teeth in the morning, and even Hersey gets her teeth brushed during that time. Women, we do influence our family! Julianna, who had just turned twelve, had never had a cavity. My last check-up was good as well. Consistent hygienists visits have put our teeth in a good position.

Three years ago, Julianna and I started reading through the Bible in a year together. In our first year, we discontinued the habit around April, and in our second year, we continued until around October before we stopped. This year we hope to continue until December and finish! We are using the YouVersion app with Nicky Gumbel, who is doing the devotional at the beginning of each day’s readings. Julianna and I enjoy breakfast together as we listen.

For the last two years, many of us have limited our gatherings and learned how to be flexible in our schedules to see our friends and family because of COVID. We made those opportunities work for our relationships. Personally, I did not have a chance to see one of my cousins during that time, so I persisted in reaching her this past Sunday. We connected by phone, and she told me about her time of illness, which is why she had not connected with me. She had been ill and did not want to bother me, had tested herself twice for COVID, and both tests were negative. I assured her I hoped she would know in the future to call me, and I would be glad to help. I have now put her in my schedule for lunch next week.

I want to encourage you to join me in a Movin’ together relationship encouragement challenge! Let’s start at home and support those around us and then with our extended family and friends. Let’s find out how others are doing and show we care! A network of caring.

Strong, healthy relationships can also help to strengthen our immune systems, help us recover from diseases, and may even lengthen our lives.
