Movin’ Together: The Power of Prayer

by Sara Vogt - December 20, 2019

On the Movin’ Together broadcasts we feature tools that aid us in fending our immune system and fighting disease, especially cancer. Originally designed to encourage women to be healthier physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is still our passion for creating these broadcasts, reaching out to help each other in this journey called life!

This month our tool is prayer. Researchers have found, for example, that people who pray for themselves, attend church regularly and/or have an active spiritual life have better health, including lower blood pressure, lower incidences of cancer and obesity, less heart disease, lower stress, better mental health, and longer lives.

In a highly publicized study, researchers at the Duke Clinical Research Institute found that prayers had a positive effect on health outcomes–even prayers from strangers, even when patients did not know they were being prayed for.

Prayer does play an important role in the process of healing.

Sara Vogt heard Pastor Rhonda Spencer sharing her prayer journey through her cancer diagnosis so she asked Rhonda to join her in the studio to discuss it. Rhonda explained that In 2016 she was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer. Her doctors recommended chemotherapy and surgery. After hearing these choices she and her husband Michael chose to go to their heavenly Father in prayer for guidance. Not out of the fear that comes from hearing this kind of news but out of the faith they were standing in at the time. From the very beginning of this diagnosis, Rhonda felt that God was going to heal her, so she told the nurses and doctors that each time she went for evaluations. When she went in for tests they told her that her condition was worsening. She remained strong in faith believing that she would be healed. Her doctor was petitioning her to go through the chemo and surgery because of her condition. She asked him if he would do one more colonoscopy in her trust that God had removed cancer. He agreed and did another colonoscopy and ran other tests as well. He called her a week later and told her that all of the tests came back with no evidence of cancer! Rhonda remains grateful to this day for the miracle she received. She also encourages others to pursue God’s kindness and healing through prayer.

If you would like Pastor Rhonda Spencer and Sara Vogt to pray for you concerning a cancer diagnosis or you have a woman friend who is going through cancer, please e-mail your request to sara@thehomepagenetwork.com and we would consider it an honor to pray. Both Sara and Rhonda go to God our heavenly Father through their relationship with Christ.

At the end of this broadcast, Sara gave Rhonda a fun present to open and enjoy. (Watch the video to find out what it was!)

Thank you for joining us on Movin’ Together and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.

Please visit Rhonda’s Facebook page to learn more about her ministry.

Special thanks to Christine A. Moore Millinery.
