Movin’ Together 2018 – Giving

by Home Page Staff - December 20, 2018

When we give our time and talents to others, we are filled with a sense of joy. During this season of giving, we are reminded how important it is to give even 10-15 minutes of our time to hear a person’s story, share some holiday traditions, and give a bit of encouragement. Today on Movin’ Together, we experienced the joy of spending time with residents from the Shared Home, as well as some furry friends from Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries. The residents enjoyed playing with the dogs, singing Christmas carols, and sharing stories of their love of animals.

“The best thing to do is to come in and volunteer,” said Shared Home Assistant Administrator, Whitney Holley. “Our residents love to have people come in and visit with them!”

If you would like to brighten their day by visiting or sending joyful holiday cards, the address for the Shared Home is 27 Bacon Street in Wellsboro, PA. Additional contact information for The Shared Home is listed below:

The two dogs in this feature, Paw-Paw and Aster, loved spending time with the Shared Home residents. There are plenty of ways that you can help other Second Chance animals this holiday season. Volunteering your time, adopting a pet, or donating money or supplies are all great ways to help animals in need.

Jim Howe, President of Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries, encourages us to come out to spend time with the dogs and cats in their care. Their new Heading Home Center, located at 725 Gee Road in Tioga, PA, was established in 2016. It features several indoor rooms equipped with toys, climbing perches, and access to outdoor, fenced-in yards to make sure the animals have enough fresh air and exercise. They are always looking for volunteers to come spend time with the animals. Feel free to stop by during their hours of operation: 12pm-5pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (closed Wednesdays and Saturdays).
