Memorial Tree planted for Sophia Campbell
A memorial planting took place today at Rock L. Butler Middle School for Sophia Campbell. Sophia was tragically killed in a car accident in April. The project was spearheaded by Mrs. Brigette Largey. Largey, along with the STING committee from the sixth grade, prepared the area for planting.
With the help of Bonnie Rogers, master gardener, each sixth-grade student and teacher were able to plant a flower for Sophia. Many community businesses and organizations donated to this cause. Martin’s garden center donated the tree and the flowers. The memorial plaque was donated by Tussey Mosher Funeral Home. A list of other donors is found below.
Mr. Mike Pietropola addressed the students and Sophia’s parents and brother. He stated that Sophia will be remembered as a vibrant student and athlete at Rock L. Butler. Mrs. Largey hopes that the area will be a place for students to come, relax, and to remember Sophia.
