Meet WASD’s New Athletic Director

by Home Page Staff - September 12, 2019

This fall semester of 2019, Wellsboro Area School District welcomes newly hired Athletic Director, Ed Weaver.

Mr. Weaver has been contributing to the WASD athletic program for years prior to his currently appointed position. He has been a statistician for a number of sports, a member of coaching staff, and the administrator for websites like WellsboroAthletics.com that actively promote the student athletes and their endeavors. Ed Weaver is also a Wellsboro Area School District alumnus and former student athlete.

“I guess the next natural step is to take over as athletic director,” said Weaver. “I’m just really glad, really proud to help out my alma mater in that facet.”

Mr. Weaver’s vision is to continue and extend highlighting good athletic performances in addition to what the students are learning in the classroom. He’s also focusing on connecting past alumni to the school. This includes continuing his work with Circle W Sports, of whom Ed Weaver is also the owner/operator. Circle W Sports is an online platform for promoting student athletes and tracking their stats.

“It’s a good way to help our student athletes get more exposure than what they had in the past,” said Weaver. “Since we took over the sports writing, we’ve had more kids recognized at the state level…in terms of all-state voting and getting recognized at that level as one of the best of the best in the state of Pennsylvania. We’ve had more students get that recognition, we’ve had more athletes continue their careers at Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, NAI programs.”

Mr. Ed Weaver will also be continuing his work at Home Page Sports as Sports Director.
