Maple on the Mount
Mt. Pisgah State Park is very excited to kick off the year with Maple on the Mount, this Saturday, March 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Park Nature Center.
There will be several stations set up with demonstrations to see how maple syrup is taken from the tree to the table and learn some history and science of the process. You can tour their very own Sugar Shack, with demonstrations being held on the hour.
There will also be a StoryWalk®: a fun, educational activity that places a children’s book along a walking route. It was created as an innovative and delightful way to help build children’s interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for all! The featured book is If You Give a Pig a Pancake, by Laura Numeroff. This is one of at least four books they hope to have at the park this year.
Several key people will be in attendance for this event, 2022 Endless Mountains Maple Ambassador, MacKenzie Morgan; Dr. Bob Hansen, retired, Penn State Extension; Adam Chorba, Bradford County Conservation District; Penn State Extension Master Garners; the Bradford County Bookmobile; and Smokey Bear from 10:00 to 11:30.
For more information, contact the park office at (570) 297-2734. For more DCNR events please visit the events tab at www.dcnr.pa.gov.
