MU Psych Central – What is E.I.?
Emotional intelligence has been highly underrated as a needed intelligence in the past, though it is quickly gaining ground as a crucial part of connecting with others, increased productivity, better teamwork collaboration, success, and mental health. It can be developed through reading, self-reflection, lots of practice, and consistent role models.

Behind the Sparkle – The Beauty of Ruby
Today we will be talking about one of the most popular gemstones, and this months Birthstone: Ruby.

Rubies are considered one of the most important gems in the colored stone market because it can command the highest per-carat price.

In its purest form, the mineral corundum is colorless (known as white sapphire,) and in comparison to ruby, inexpensive, but trace elements of chromium create the beautiful ruby red color, that demands our attention.

If there is a low saturation of chromium, making the mineral pink, its no longer considered a Ruby, but rather: Pink Sapphire.

Local Student Returns from French Adventure
Today on Home Page, Audrey Becker shares her experience of being an exchange student for a year in Normandy, France. By staying with three different host families, Audrey learned more about different lifestyles, the French culture, and the language. While the language barrier was difficult at first, Audrey speaks in the video about how she overcame those challenges. She also tells us about the high school education she received, the delicious food, and the amazing people she met. Audrey had the opportunity to travel to various other countries in Europe, and meet other exchange students from all over the world.

Classic Cars & Antique Automobiles
On Wednesday, July 19, Tioga County took a trip back in time as the Antique Automobile Club of America rolled onto The Green in Wellsboro for their 2017 National Vintage Tour. This event is held during odd-numbered years and includes vehicles manufactured in 1931 or earlier.

“There are 12 states represented [today] and three countries,” said tour chairman, Thomas Roberts. “…including 49 cars. It covers everything from a 1914 Overland, that’s our oldest car on the tour, to some 1931 models.”

Big Sisters, Big Brothers
On today’s broadcast, we visit with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers.

Even though the majority of us here in Tioga County are not rolling in big bucks, it’s still much easier to throw money at problems in our community than it is to give the most valuable thing that we have, TIME. But, in reality, it doesn’t take a huge investment of our time to change a kids life and light his or her pathway to a bright future. The rewards for you will turn out to be quite surprising. It very well may be one of the most fulfilling investments that you will ever make.
