Local Volunteers Honored For Selfless Service To Elderly
Home Page Cameras stopped by the Wellsboro Shared Home as Assistant Administrator Wendy Reber and her staff hosted their volunteers for an appreciation breakfast. Many volunteers came to enjoy the delicious meal.
C & N staff were also there to serve and support the breakfast as part of their Giving Back, Giving Together, where the current cause they support is the seniors in our community. This group of C&N employees is working with the Shared Home.
For more information about Giving Back, Giving Together, please visit their website here.
While there, after breakfast, Wendy Reber handed out citations acknowledging the volunteer’s support for the residents. One of the recipients was Dr. Ardell Thomas, MD, who is credited with having the home’s vision in 1979. For the complete history of the Shared Home, please visit their website:

We spoke with Wendy who has been on the job for eleven months. She has gathered people and resources to help the Shared Home to be a place of comfort and care. There are many activities that the residents enjoy while living in a home environment.
When asked why she goes to the Shared Home, Julie Weaver, one of the volunteers, responded that she enjoys reading to the residents. As a former teacher, she feels suitable at home reading because she enjoys it too! For her, it is a way to give back to the older generation.
If you want to volunteer, please get in touch with Wendy at 570-724-2300.
Also, if you are looking for a place to call home for an older individual, please call 570-724-2300 and ask for the administrator, Virginia Jackson, for more information.
