Local Students Explore Robotics
Robotics have been represented diversely in media over the past few decades, ranging from helpful assistants to dangerous machines. But their real world application looks a bit different – and that is what local students have been exploring.
Mr. Andy Borzok, the physics and robotics teacher at Wellsboro Area High School, teaches and leads a variety of robotics programs including a high school robotics course, a high school robotics competition team and several middle school robotics teams.
“Robotics is all about using technology to do the things that are either challenging for people to do, or can help them be more efficient,” said Borzok. “It’s applying the engineering process, it’s applying computer science to applications in industry, medicine and all kinds of different things.”
The high school robotics competition team will be competing at their first event on January 20th in York, PA. One of the middle school teams has advanced to the regional competition that will also be taking place on January 20th in Philadelphia.
