by Ed Weaver - September 15, 2017

North Penn-Liberty kept their undefeated record intact on Thursday, September 14 in a 3-0 win against NTL Large School Division foe Troy.

The Lady Mounties cruised in the first set, winning 25-10, but struggled early in the second. Troy capitalized off Liberty’s mistakes to jump out to a 10-4 lead, but eventually Liberty settled down and collected themselves and went on to win 25-15. Again in the third, Liberty cruised and won 25-12.

Leading the Lady Mounties were Savannah Doney, JoAnne McNamara, Charisma Grega and Maddison Minyo. Doney had 3 aces, 11 service receptions, and 10 digs; McNamara recorded 19 assists, 3 aces, and 1 dig; and on offense Grega and Minyo pounded 24 kills together, 15 and 9, respectively.

For Troy, Caitlin DeLosa had 5 points, 1 ace, 3 kills, and 3 digs; Cassie Shedden had 4 points, 1 ace, 5 set assists, 3 kills, 1 block, and 5 digs; and Gabby Bohner had 3 points and 2 digs.

North Penn-Liberty won the JV game 2-0 (25-14, 25-22).

The win improves the Lady Mounties to 5-0 (4-0 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Monday, September 18 in Horseheads and travels to Wellsboro on Tuesday, September 19.
