Leroy Old Home Days
CANTON – Back in the 1940s, the town of Leroy, PA decided to celebrate the 4th of July with a carnival style atmosphere, today, that tradition continues. Leroy Old Home Days is always the talk of the town. From “Closest to the Pin” tournament to a competitive 5k race and an Annual Action by Edward Pepper, there are many activities planned throughout the day. The best is the Parade at about 12:30 p.m. with many side by sides decked out in red, white and blue or a creative theme. There are also Dime Pitch, Pick a Duck, and Mystery Prizes to be experienced by young and old. And whenever there is a carnival there is carnival food such as funnel cakes, baked goods and chicken barbecue. The town really comes together to see each other, eat and celebrate.
Some of the years there has even been an All Star Game on the baseball field. This year the girls softball team was doing a bake sale to raise money for a scoreboard on the lower field. Plan to bring your family next year, for some old fashion fun.
