Laurel Festival 2023 Highlights | Part 1

by John Vogt - June 20, 2023

Our state’s official flower (Laurel) was presented in all its glory this past week as communities throughout Pennsylvania came together to celebrate the 81st annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival in Wellsboro, PA.

Thousands attended the week-long event, which was once again a tremendous success. HPN NEWS cameras were there to capture all the highlights, including the children’s health fair, the pet parade, the incredible arts and crafts show, the fantastic Laurel Festival parade down Main Street spotlighting our beautiful Laurel Festival queen candidates, interviews with vendors and special guests, and more. Take a few minutes to watch today’s feature broadcast and see how many family members and friends you can spot!

Our 2022 Laurel Festival Queen, Regan Regina, says, “I really love events like this… because it brings our community together.” Regan has done a fantastic job representing the State of Pennsylvania this past year as our reigning Queen. Don’t forget to join us on The Home Page Network tomorrow to meet our new Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival Queen for 2023!

Some attendees have been enjoying Wellsboro’s Pennsylvanian State Laurel Festival for decades. One person we talked with had attended over 65 Laurel Festivals. She still loves the food and the parade best of all. You can meet them all on today’s broadcast! We even have the opportunity to thank our Local Police Department.

The very first Laurel Festival was held in 1938. Larry Wooden, a local businessman, came up with the idea as a way to bring people to the area to enjoy Wellsboro and visit the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The Laurel Festival is sponsored by Wellsboro Foundation, Inc., is administered by the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and is organized by a committee of volunteers who work year-round to make the event a delight for all who attend.

Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of our Laurel Festival highlights, The Crowning of our Laurel Festival Queen for 2023. We’ll see you then!
