Lady Indians top Lady Mounties, 60-32

by Ed Weaver - February 11, 2019

The Cowanesque Valley Lady Indians jumped out to an early lead over the North Penn-Liberty Mounties and never looked back on Friday, February 8.

CV took an early lead and held Liberty to just one basket the entire first quarter as they ran away to a 19-2 lead after the opening 8 minutes. From that point on CV allowed just 10 points each of the remaining three quarters by Liberty.

CV outscored Liberty 17-10 in the second quarter to lead 36-12 at halftime. Then outscored Liberty 14-10 to extend their lead to 50-22 after the third, then both teams scored 10 points each in the final quarter as CV went on to a 60-32 win.

Makayla Vargeson led all scorers with 13 points on the evening while Kailey Wells and Karmen Shot had 9 points each for the Lady Indians. For Liberty, Emma Williams led the way with 8 points, Taylor Thompson finished with 6, and Isabella Clark, Kiersten Mitstifer, and Taelyn Brown all had 4 points.

The win improves CV’s record to 8-13 overall and 7-8 in the NTL Small School Division while Liberty falls to 1-19 and 1-13 in the NTL Small School Division.
