Ladies, You’re Invited!
Surely you have heard about and even watched the Kentucky Derby? And surely you have watched or will watch the upcoming Breeders Cup Race in November?
If you have, you might recall noticing a few of the hat’s worn on race day. Ever wonder just who makes those fabulous fashion statements? The woman who, since 2013, has been the official milliner for the Breeders’ Cup.
Join us on Wellsboro Home Page and meet the artist who creates those hats – a woman who proudly proclaims Wellsboro, as her other “home town”.
(July 6, 1938 to July 28, 2016 on this Earth)
In honor of her memory: Carolyn with her daughter Christine as they enjoyed one of the Brimming with Style Hat Shows at the Fifth Season. Christine’s inspirations for the hand made flowers on her hats came from taking pictures of her mother’s gardens. Carolyn was a lovely Christian woman who is dearly missed by her family and all of us who came to know her through Christine.
Ever wondered how to choose a hat?
Christine encourages you to come to the Hat Show at the Fifth Season Boutique located at 100 Main Street and try one on! See the colors; feel the textures; and choose a shape that matches your personality.
Whether it is a funky punky fedora or a traditional classic with a twist, Christine’s creations are sure to bring that “exclamation point to someone’s face”.
Perhaps you are not sure which hat is for you? Christine talks about two classic styles of hats: the “Bowler “ which is the British name for the same style as the American Derby or traditional top hat and the “Fedora” which is named after an Italian play in the 1800’s which the main characters last name was Fedora. She then explains how she puts her touch on the styles, making them uniquely hers. (Both styles can be seen in the video.) She also explains the inspirations in choosing the names for her hats that she has designed. Whatever your fancy, Christine is sure to have created one reflective of your personal taste.
To try one on that suits you (and maybe even take home the hat Christine is going to give away) at the Fifth Season’s social – which will include a sumptuous three course luncheon – mark your calendar now for the Hat Show on September 24 (noon – 2:00 PM) and get your tickets today.
For more information you can call the Fifth Season at 570-724-6910 or go to their Facebook page.
