Kid’s Can’t Fight Cancer Alone

by Tanya Route - April 6, 2022

When the news first broke that Timmy Ward had cancer, the Canton community was in shock. The community rallied to support his family and as he fought the battle his family was around him continuously. Once Timmy got the “all clear”, his mom Michelle Ward and her now friend, Tracey Weldy talked and knew they wanted to do something to give back to the communities that had rallied around them. Kid’s Can’t Fight Cancer Alone (KCFCA) was formed to support families with a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer.

KCFCA hosts several fundraisers throughout the year. The next one is a golf tournament on Sunday, May 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Tomasso’s Golf Course in Waverly, NY. Teams of four can sign up by checking out the KCFCA Facebook page. The cost is $100 per person. There are also corporate opportunities to sponsor a hole, half hole, or donate prizes. Other fundraisers are a poker tournament in January and Tab War contest during football season between Canton and Troy. Donations are accepted at any time throughout the year.

If a family has a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer and needs emotional or financial help, please feel free to reach out to Michelle or Tracey via the facebook page or by email – kcfcaemail@gmail.com. Many times because the family is overwhelmed an extended family member will reach out to KCFCA. Once the initial contact is made, a member of the board will reach out to the family to evaluate the needs.

KCFCA would like to thank the current sponsors of the upcoming Golf Tournament: Welch Insurance, ServiceMaster, Endless Mountain Brace and Mobility, Cuz Excavating, Xerox, IR Credit Union, Lesko Financial Services, FCCB – Canton Branch, Circle W Sports, Blaise Alexander Mansfield, and Cooke’s Pharmacy.
