I Can Hold Any Note Longer Than You

by Sara Vogt, Chloe Quimby - May 9, 2016

Join three talented singing groups on Saturday, May 14th, at 7pm in the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro for a special musical performance. The Wellsboro Men’s Chorus, the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus, and the Wednesday Morning Musicales’ Chorus are coming together to dazzle the community with a joint concert. Says Diana Frazier, director of the Women’s Chorus and Wednesday Morning Musicales, “When you have that many voices together, it’s quite dynamic.”

Singers will be treating attendees to a variety of pieces—among them, “Get on Your Feet,” “Anything Goes,” and “Lift Up Your Voice”—twenty songs in total. Frasier notes that “Lift Up Your Voice” is her favorite out of the selection. “…[It] really expresses how we feel and why we’re singing as a group together,” explains Frazier. The vocalists even treated WHP viewers to a preview of their finale, performing “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better” from the Broadway production, Annie Get Your Gun.

In addition to the singers, the performance is made possible by the two gifted pianists Judy Smithgall (Women’s Chorus) and Pat Davis (Men’s Chorus), as well as the director of Men’s Chorus, Sharon Humbert, and of course, the director of the Women’s Chorus and Wednesday Morning Musicales, Diana Frazier.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students. If you are interested in lending your voice to either chorus, contact Diana at (570) 724-5926.
