Hornets XC teams host NEB, Troy

The Wellsboro XC teams hosted Northeast Bradford and Troy in NTL action on Tuesday, September 20.

Northeast Bradford swept the girls race, beating Wellsboro 21-34 and Troy 24-31. Troy also won over Wellsboro 23-32.

NEB’s Karli Moyer won the race in 23:11. Junior Anna Bleggi was the top Wellsboro runner in 2nd in 24:04, followed by Troy’s Courtney Case (24:19).

Freshman Kayla Mengee (24:57) was 7th, freshman Jaime Palmer (26:38) was 13th, sophomore Kara Doane (27:54) was 16th, sophomore Rachel Chamberlain (28:03) was 19th, freshman Kylie Butler (29:37) was 20th, freshman Emma Palmer (34:30) was 24th, and freshman Maddie Mann (35:19) was 26th.

In the boys race, Northeast Bradford picked up 17-38 wins over both Troy and Wellsboro, and the Hornets beat Troy 21-34. Northeast swept the top 3 spots with Casey Ellis (18:03), Austin Senn-Bishop (18:54), and Garret Smith (18:57).

Sophomore Aidan Perry was the top Hornet in 4th at 19:06, junior Connor Brought (19:35) was 8th, freshman Austin Richards (20:26) was 10th, senior Alden Weiner (20:30) was 12th, sophomore Bergen Weiner (21:24) was 18th, sophomore Zack Busch (21:50) was 21st, Bryon Callahan (22:28) was 23rd, junior Michael Stefanowicz (22:50) was 25th, junior Logan Morral (24:38) was 29th, freshman Lucas Citrino (24:49) was 30th, sophomore Taylor Wheeler (24:55) was 32nd, freshman Tyren Wetzel (32:02) was 39th, and junior Noah Smith (43:23) was 40th.

In the Middle School races, both teams lost to Troy and NEB. The boys lost 22-34 to NEB and 15-40 to Troy. The girls lost 27-28 to NEB and 18-39 to Troy. Hope Sampson (13:25) was the top girl in 6th and Connor Owlett (12:23) was the top boy in 13th.

The Lady Hornets are now 2-2 (2-2 NTL) and the boys are 3-1 (3-1 NTL). The teams will be back in action next Tuesday, September 27 at Sayre.
