Hornets take Golf match at Corey Creek

The Wellsboro Golf team edged North Penn-Mansfield on their rivals’ home course for their first win of the season on Tuesday, September 6.

The Hornets shot 364 and North Penn-Mansfield had a 366 team score for second place. Northern Tioga (369) was 3rd, Towanda (387) was 4th, Sayre (395) was 5th, Northeast Bradford (406) was 6th, and Athens (430) rounded out the field in 7th.

“I’m really happy for the team they have worked hard all year,” said head coach Steve Macensky. “Our top three players have performed well every match. After three matches our fourth score has come from three different players. It has been a real team effort all year.”

Sayre’s Ryan Murelle finished with medalist honors with a round of 78, Followed by North Penn-Mansfield’s J.P. Shaw at 80, Wellsboro’s Brandyn Tuttle in 3rd with an 84, and Northeast Bradford’s Nate Watkins, Northern Tioga’s Tanner Adriance, and Wellsboro’s Ben Barnett all tied for 4th with an 85.

For Wellsboro, Taynton Repard shot 90, Joseph Propheta carded a 105, Chris Richardson finished with 115, and Zach Lundgren came home with 123.

For North Penn-Mansfield, Andrew Everetts shot 87, Carl Dinger shot 93, Katrina Toth-Penner had 106, Joe Creamer carded 107, and R.J. Farrell finished with 110.

The league will be at Towanda Country Club on Thursday, September 8.
