Halbfoerster Represents Canton Warriors at XC State Tournament
It’s been nine years since the Canton warriors cross country team has been represented by a male athlete at the PIAA state tournament in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
This year, CHS sophomore Lawrence Halbfoerster was up to the task as he took to the course in chocolate town.
When asked about his goals going into this tournament, Lawrence stated, “I wanted to get at least top 100, but I ended up at 102nd place; and I wanted to get 18:30 for my time but I ended up with 18:36. There were 260 people racing against me and I got 102nd so I’m proud of that.”
And proud he should be. His family and friends were there to support his achievement, loudly cheering him on in encouragement.
“One thing I can definitely take [into the next season] is I need to run more on the off-season,” “I know my competitors from other schools will definitely be doing the same, and if I want to continue to keep going to states in the future, or just keep on doing well in cross-country in general then I’m going to have to do that and train harder, and I really hope that I can recruit some other athletes on the team too.”
