Great Burgers, Great Cause!

Support Second Chance and enjoy some of the area's best burgers!

by Lauren Gooch - July 12, 2016

Do you want to try great burgers for a great cause? Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is working together with 16 restaurants in Tioga County until Labor Day to provide this incredible opportunity. In today’s feature video, Jim Howe, President of Second Chance, tells us more about how this fundraiser came to be.

“We’re getting people to come out into the restaurants,” says Howe. “They’re getting to visit restaurants they’ve never been to. You get to taste all the burgers, you get a discount on every burger, and…you get to help Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries and our Heading Home Center for lost and abandoned animals. You’re a winner-winner! You get to help animals and taste good burgers!”

To participate, purchase a “Dog-Gone Good Summertime Burger Taste Card” for $10 from any of the participating restaurants, Penn Oak Realty on Main Street in Wellsboro, or from Second Chance. Use this card as many times as you’d like throughout the summer to get $1 off each burger every time you use it. You can be the judge! After tasting each burger, use the provided form to evaluate the burgers to decide which one you liked the best. After Labor Day, bring your rating form to Second Chance, Penn Oak Realty, or one of the participating restaurants to cast your vote for the “2016 Best Dog-Gone Summertime Burger Champion!”

Participating restaurants include:
In Wellsboro – George’s Restaurant, Harland’s Restaurant, The Steak House, Timeless Destination, The Wellsboro House
In Mansfield – Cast & Crew, Lamb’s Creek Food & Spirits, Papa the Butcher, Yorkholo
In Tioga – MeMa’s Country Kitchen
In Lawrenceville – Rotsell’s Restaurant, North Shore Boat Club (at Cowanesque Lake)
In Little Marsh – Crooked Creek Inn & Cafe
In Westfield – The Colonial Hotel
On Route 6 in Ansonia – Ansonia Valley Inn/Burning Barrel Bar
In Rexford – The Old Antlers Inn

We hope you will come out to support all the local businesses and Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries. For more information about this fundraiser or how you can help, contact Second Chance at 888-724-6188.

Thank you to Jim Howe of Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries.
