From the Archives: Forged & Restored in Morris
“We’re actually in our 10th year here, it’s been about 3 years now that we’ve had it open as a store front” says Zack Buck local veteran, owner, and operator of Blak Forge Armoury. Nestled in the town of Morris, PA, this rather unique shop offers a variety of rare and specialized services.
Zack has been an avid user of firearms since the age of 7, frequently hunting with his grandfather who helped to develop his love for guns. He began working at a traditional blacksmith’s forge, dabbling in muzzle loader builds for himself and friends, which developed into a hobby. His initial desire to work on firearms came in college when his brother, Jacob Buck, and some other friends discussed opening a gun store with the intent of doing gunsmithing. After doing some research, Zack found that his market would be better focused more on custom orders and restoration.
Zack demonstrated some excellent knowledge when showing his 1880’s German off hand target rifle. In need of desperate restoration, Zack explained the history of the rifle and how it was used well past the development of cartridge loaders due to the fact that Europeans felt cartridges were a “fad” and would never be as accurate as muzzle loaders.
Blak Forge Armoury is a must stop for any firearm related restoration or custom firearm related business. When it comes to gunsmithing, Zack and Bill are top notch and can offer wonderful solutions. Make sure to check them out if you need that family heirloom gun fixed up, or if you have a custom gun in mind, like their fully custom inhouse made 1911’s. They also offer a selection of firearms for sale in their store located at 1803 PA 287, Morris, PA 16938.
