Explore the History of Glass at this Meet & Greet
Clare Ritter, chairperson for the Wellsboro Glass Historical Association, and Carrie Heath, Director of the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, came to the Home Page Studios to invite area listeners to their event, which happens this Saturday evening, February 24th.
The event’s name is Gathering of Glass – The Next Chapter! Clare shared that this is an opportunity to meet and greet with Wellsboro Glass Historical Association members. This time is also set aside to thank and honor those assisting in making a difference.
The reception begins at 6:30 pm and ends at 8:30 pm. There will be different things to do and see during these two hours and snacks to enjoy! One of the fun things that will happen is when Mary Wise shows how to decorate a Christmas bulb. If you choose, you will be able to decorate one too! Also, others will show how to catalog items that will eventually go into the glass museum.
There will be a video of the ribbon machine running, like when it was used to make lights and Christmas balls at the glass plant.
There will be a time to reflect on the work their family did at the glass factory—grandfathers, grandmothers, dads, moms, uncles, aunts, and many other family members. It is a time to celebrate history that will live on to tell future generations.
