Enjoy the “Music Mosaic”

by Stacey Dondey - May 8, 2018

You won’t want to miss the vocal journey you will delight in taking at the “Music Mosaic” concert on May 12th at 7:00pm. This year The Wellsboro Women’s Chorus, The Wellsboro Men’s chorus and The Wednesday Morning Musicales collaborate to bring you a collection of songs sure to get your toes tapping.

Everyone involved has a true love of music that is undeniable. “I think that is the important thing and the message we can relay through singing,” says Diana Frazier, the Director of Women’s Chorus accompanied by Judy Smithgall. Many involved have served their communities by teaching music to their students and now selflessly continue using their gifts inspiring others.

Singing in a choir is the #1 most participated in performing art and has been scientifically found to have many positive effects. The 2009 Chorus Impact Study commissioned by Chorus America found that, “choral participation cultivates positive attributes in singers, which in turn, benefits communities.” It went on to say, “People who sing in choruses demonstrate characteristics that make them remarkably good citizens,” such as volunteering in their communities, taking on leadership roles, and participating in the political process.

Christina Simonis, the Director of the Men’s Chorus accompanied by Pat Davis says the group enjoys, “giving a lot to the town.” Since the 1940’s the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus has been supporting the local community and the arts while performing at any event they are asked to. You can witness their talent and camaraderie at festivals, churches and veterans events. They offer scholarships to young men going on to study music.

“Definitely, Join us!” was the emphatic welcome to any one interested in attending the concert or getting involved in chorus. Interested singers are warmly welcomed to attend a meeting prior to joining the new season launching this September!
