Dickens of a Christmas 2019
Merry Christmas, everyone! It was the best of times this past weekend in Tioga County as thousands gathered in downtown Wellsboro for the 36th Annual Dickens of a Christmas! This holiday event, inspired by Charles Dickens’ work, A Christmas Carol, fills Main Street in Wellsboro with street vendors, performers, musicians, carolers, and attendees dressed in Victorian-era attire.
Festival goers can always find and enjoy a variety of delicious foods, gifts and other goods sold both from vendors and area businesses.
One activity attendees could enjoy and/or chose to participate in was the Best Dressed Showcase; a presentation of outfits and attire inspired by fun and spirit of the Dickens of a Christmas festival. This year, 20 participants entered and the judges included Teresa Banik Capuzzo, Stephen Schmidt, and Jan Stiner.
This year’s runner-up was Mary Dikun. The overall winner of the 2019 Best Dressed Showcase was Elaine Benjamin.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Best Dressed Showcase! This event would not be possible without generous sponsors, including:
Pop’s Culture Shoppe
The Historic Penn Wells Hotel
The Steak House
Cottage Glassworks
Bethany’s Jewelry and Design
Highland Chocolates
Timeless Destination
CS Sports
Dunham’s Department Store
Red Skillet
The Main Street Olive Oil Company
Karen’s Country Store

And so, as Tiny Tim said, “A Merry Christmas to us all; God bless us, every one!”
