COVID-19 Task Force Update From Jim Nobles

COVID-19 Task Force Update From Jim Nobles

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - February 16, 2021

COVID cases decreased this week and Tioga County returned to Moderate Transmission with 96 cases per 100K residents being reported. Currently, we have 6.6% positivity rate with 100 active cases being reported in the last 14 days and 34 of those reported in the last 7 days.

The Task Force is very pleased to see the county incidence and positivity trending down, but would also like to remind everyone, we still need to remain diligent in our mitigation efforts of wearing a mask, washing our hands, and watching our distances.

On the vaccine front, to date, the county has administered 3,093 partial or first doses with 847 people receiving their second dose and are now fully vaccinated.
Again, this week, vaccine doses remain in short supply with requests for vaccines greatly surpassing the number of doses being received. The Task Force is once again asking everyone to please be patient while the state works through the supply chain issues.

Presently we are vaccinating people in the state’s 1(A) category, which is anyone 65 and older and those 16-64 with underlying health conditions. People in the 1(A) category may contact the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health at (570) 787-5000 to add their name to the waiting list to be vaccinated.

The Task Force continues to work closely with state officials to increase the number of vaccine doses received in Tioga County. The state is also working closely with its federal partners to increase the number of doses received in the Commonwealth. I’m very confident that we will be receiving increased doses in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, the Task Force would like everyone to do their research and decide if you will be vaccinated when it’s your turn. To help with determining when it’s your time to be vaccinated, the state Department of Health has rolled out a web-based tool called Your Turn. For more information, please visit pa.gov and type “Your Turn” in the search bar.
