Christmas on Main Street 2019
Many chose to visit Wellsboro for the 4th Annual Christmas on Main Street Weekend! Some took time to listen to the sounds of the season, while others went from location to location to find the 30 historical ornament displays. At CS Sports, Curt Schramm shows his family’s Shiny Brites that he grew up hanging on his tree. Each location had its uniqueness in reminding us about our Corning Glass plant that saved Christmas for the world! Well, at least the tradition of using glass ornaments for decoration by supplying over 90 percent during the ’40s.
Historical ornament fascinators replicating the 1940’s were featured at Dunham’s Department Store trunk show with Christine A Moore Millinery. Those who stopped into the store had fun trying on the hats and fascinators and were greeted by Christine and her husband Blake.
On Sunday afternoon Skip Cavanaugh, former technical General Manager for Corning Glass (here at the Wellsboro plant) and Regan Brumagen, Associate Librarian at the Rakow Research Library of the Corning Museum of Glass presented information about the history of glass made Christmas ornaments.
