Canton wrestling wins first round of D4 playoffs over Hughesville
The Canton Warriors wrestling team claimed the first round of District 4 Class AA playoffs as they trounced the Hughesville Spartans, 50-10.
To start off the night at 139, Canton’s Cohen Landis defeated Kile Hartman by major decision.
Spartan Mason Mordan topped Holden Ward at 145.
Followed by Hughesville’s Keagan Smith who took down Ryland Sakers at 152.
Next, at 160, Warrior Hudson Ward brought down Conor Knight with the major decision, earning 4 points for his team.
After that is was pin after pin after pin as Warrior Carter Inman defeated Connor Anstadt at 172.
Warrior Michael Davis overpowered Luke Stutzman at 189.
At 215, Warrior Leland Pepper trampled Jakob Charles, pinning in 1:18.
At 285 Warrior Mason Harold topped Bryce Burkhart in 1:59.
At 107 Warrior Levi Vermilya dominated Jarret Whitmoyer in 0:45.
Warrior Lyle Vermilya pinned Blake Babb at 121.
At 127 Spartan Chase Shaner narrowly won over Tommy Preston.
And finally, Canton’s Carson Rockwell pinned Casey Mook at 133.
The Canton Warriors will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to Milton along with 8 other teams to determine the District 4 Champion. The Warriors will face off against Line Mountain at 11am.
