Canton Elementary Hosts Author For Family Night
This year, Family Night was held on Thursday, March 23rd at Canton Elementary School. The night is sponsored by Title I Funding, which is a federal program designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.
The night was well attended by the students and families of Canton school district. This year, local author Kevin Coolidge was the presenter, talking about the importance of reading and writing, and how they inspired him to become an author. He has written a series called “Totally Ninja Raccoons,” as well as other titles.
After the presentation, families could enjoy a book swap with over 3,000 donated books, ice cream sundaes, and an exciting prize drawing!
Max Mays, one of the prize winners, describes his favorite part of the night, “My favorite part about this is probably the books because I love to read.”
Family Night is held at the Elementary school every year, so if you missed out on this one, come on out next year!
