On Saturday, February 3 the Canton Warriors competed in the District IV Class AA wrestling playoff tournament, held at Milton Area High School. Canton won their first match of the day was against the Line Mountain Eagles, 50-20.
At 285, Canton’s Mason Harold pinned Jackson Kauwell in 1:33.
Followed by Levi Vermilya at 107 who won by default. and Lyle Vermilya at 114 who won by forfeit.
At 121 Eagle Bradyn Schadel pinned Joe Luner.
At 127 Canton’s Tommy Preston pinned Waylon Shaffer in 4:30.
At 133 Warrior Carson Rockwell pinned Dane Laky in 1:09.
Line Mountain’s Nolan Baumert won by decision over Cohen Landis at 139.
At 145 Canton’s Holden Ward pinned Ethan Lenker in 2:51.
Eagle Dalton Schadel defeated Ryland Sakers by technical fall.
At 160, Canton’s Hudson Ward pinned Kohen Shingara in 3:31.
At 172 Warrior Leland Pepper won by major decision over Jacob Laudenslager.
At 189, Warrior Michael Davis also won by major decision over Jacob Schwalm.
And finally, Line Mountain’s Maxim Johnson won by forfeit.
Canton competed in two more duels on the day, falling to Montoursville, 50-19, and to Montgomery, 36-22.
The Warriors will be on the mat again at Athens on February 6th. And back again at Athens for the AA Sectional Qualifiers on February 17th, with Weigh-ins at 9am.
