Bradford-Tioga Head Start Builds Community Partnership
Giving and helping others builds stronger connections with those within your community. It improves relationships, leading everyone to have a better life. The children enrolled in the Blossburg 1 and Blossburg 2 classrooms of Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. and their families are finding out firsthand!
Ashely is a current Head Start parent and the new manager at Blossburg Pizza and Sub’s. Since her child participates in the Head Start Hero program, Ashley thought about and pursued a partnership with the Blossburg classrooms and Blossburg Pizza. Her thought was any child who received a Head Start Hero award for positive behavior would receive a discount on an order to Blossburg Pizza. A child, receiving the Head Start Hero Award for positive behavior within the classroom is great!” says Ashley. “I saw it as an opportunity to provide another incentive for the children to do their best and excel in the classroom.”
Ashely started managing the Blossburg Pizza and Subs shop in February of this year. She noticed how supportive Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. staff were and wanted to give back! “Head Start has helped my family in countless ways over the past 2 years. Not only have they provided a great classroom setting and education for my child, but they have also helped with my child’s behavioral and speech issues too! I just knew I had to do something!” That something turned into a 10% discount to all Head Start Hero recipients enrolled in the Blossburg classrooms. When a child earns, the Head Start Hero award, the child receives classroom recognition and now thanks to Ashley a discount coupon. Families can simply bring in the coupon and receive 10% off their order.
The Blossburg Pizza and Subs shop is helping other organizations in the Blossburg community as well. They will soon be partnering with the Blossburg Fire and Ambulance Association by adding a new sub to their expanding menu.
It is by being a part of a community that we get the feeling of being a part of something greater than ourselves. It gives opportunities to connect with others, to reach for goals, and a feeling of being safe and secure.
