For over 30 years a volunteer group has been cooking chickens in Blossburg to help local nonprofit organizations raise funds.

Starting March 19th and approximately every two weeks until October you can purchase a chicken half or a full dinner in front of the Bloss Holiday Market at Riverside Plaza, downtown Blossburg. Chickens are usually ready around 10:30 am and will sell out quickly most weeks.

The chickens are cooked in an outdoor pit at Island Park, sending delicious BBQ flavored smoke throughout the town – reminding people that they don’t have to cook lunch that day or can pick up a ready made picnic meal.

BBQ chickens are sold by members of the sponsoring group. Sides may vary from group to group, but macaroni salad and baked beans are the standard. Funds are then used to support the sponsoring group activities.
