Blossburg Honors Fire & Ambulance Depts.

by Ethan Chabala - July 15, 2019

Over the week of July 12th, 2019, the community of Blossburg came together to celebrate the collective anniversaries of their fire and ambulance departments. The festivities began on Friday July 12th at the Blossburg Fire Hall with a ceremony in recognition of members of Blossburg’s first responders, both past and present. Representatives and community members alike spoke to the history of both departments and of their gratitude to those who have been apart of the Fire and Ambulance departments. Blossburg’s first responders in attendance were honored with challenge coins, vehicle plates, and citations dedicated to their years of service.

Island Park was the location of the second day of celebration. Many vendors came out with food, games, and merchandise throughout the day. On the football field, there was a vehicle showcase for those who wished to bring their vehicle and participate. Later, in the evening, a parade of lights was held in downtown Blossburg, featuring fire trucks, ambulances, and other first responder vehicles from the surrounding communities. The weekend festivities concluded with a fireworks display held Saturday night.

Special thanks to Myra Kreger, the celebration committee, and everyone in the community who came together to bring this celebration to life. We would especially like to thank our first responders for their courage and sacrifice in keeping our communities safe.
