Bloomsburg defeats North Penn-Mansfield

by Ed Weaver - September 9, 2019

Bloomsburg’s Gage and Cade Klinger combined for 6 touchdowns as the Bloomsburg Panthers beat the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers at Redman Stadium on Friday, September 6.

Bloomsburg scored with 4:28 left in the opening quarter as Jack Howell found Cade Klinger for a 36-yard touchdown pass for an early 7-0 lead.

North Penn-Mansfield answered on their ensuing possession as Colton Litzelman found Brandon Thompson in the end zone from 12 yards out after completing a deep pass to Kaelan Matczak that setup North Penn at the Bloomsburg 23-yard line. Bloomsburg blocked the extra point to maintain a 7-6 lead with 1:53 to go.

From that point on Bloomsburg took over and outscored North Penn-Mansfield 35-6.

Bloomsburg scored twice in the 2nd quarter to build their lead to 21-6 at halftime. Gage Klinger struck from 57 yards out to make it 14-6 early in the quarter, then Cade Kline ran a QB draw to push the lead to 21-6.

Later in the 3rd quarter Gage Klinger found the end zone on a 56-yard counter hand off to increase Bloomsburg’s lead to 28-6 with just under 9 minutes showing on the clock. North Penn-Mansfield later answered to cut the lead to 28-12. After a Logan Tokarz interception, Litzelman led a drive that culminated in a 12-yard pass to Koleton Roupp with 2:04 remaining.

Bloomsburg scored twice more in the game, both in the 4th quarter, to give them the 42-12 win. Cade Klinger found the end zone from 5 yards out with 11:17 remaining then later, with 2:41 left, found the end zone a final time on a 9-yard run.

The loss drops North Penn-Mansfield to 1-2 overall (1-0 NTL Large School Division). The Panthers are back in action this coming Friday night, back on the road, against the Troy Trojans.
