Back to Basics: Dead Ends
Have you ever had one of those trips where it seems that no matter how hard you try, you never seem to arrive at your destination? You take a road you’re convinced is the right one, yet it leads to a dead end. You try again and you wind up having to make a u-turn, and then another u-turn until you completely lost.
Road trips aren’t the only part of life where we can wind up lost and making u-turns. All of life can be like that! Many of use have experienced those moments where we’re headed somewhere or doing something we’re really excited about, but we wind up disoriented and unsure if we’re going the right way. At its worst, sometimes we feel completely lost and at a loss of direction.
It has been said that “life’s a journey.” Any time you’re on a journey, it’s important to know your destination and what steps you need to take to get there.
Let’s take a look at the beginning of your life’s journey, which started before you were even born! In the Bible, in Psalms 139:13, it says “For you created my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God designed you. He created you with a purpose! You were made for relationship. A relationship with Him! Through relationship with Him we bring Him glory by loving Him and obeying Him, as our Father.
This journey of relationship with Him is laid out for us in His words, the Bible. These scriptures aren’t just words of instruction for how to wind up in a destination you enjoy in life, it’s meant to help you love, how to know & obey God – so you can arrive at the destination He intended: Christ-likeness.
Along the way He helps us grow in joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. All of these “fruits” of the journey are steps towards becoming more like Him.
If you’d like to know more about this destination, about the heart of God, or you have any other questions – please reach out to Pastor TJ at tj@wellsborobible.com.
