Ag-Sci Teacher Melanie Berndtson Awarded
On Monday May 15, Melanie Berndtson the Agricultural Teacher at Wellsboro High School was honored for receiving a “Grow with Google” Fellowship.
“Grow with Google” and the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture have selected the Farm Bureau Foundation Fellows, who will create lessons that make digital skills and agricultural literacy more accessible to students across the country, with a focus on rural classrooms.
As a part of that fellowship, Wellsboro Area School District and Rock L Butler Middle school will receive Chromebooks and VR viewers which will help equip our rural students with classroom and career-focused digital skills. It will also introducing students to fundamental agricultural concepts used nationwide.
“As part of the fellowship I was able to help create lessons for the Google applied digital skills platform,” said Berndtson. “And then these lessons are going to be shared with students all over the country and potentially the world to help them apply some more digital skills into their lives and through their lessons in school.”
