Deane Center to Show Documentary
Suzanne Scheib, RN, Nurse Supervisor with UPMC Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice joined Sara Vogt in the Home Page studios to discuss a PBS FRONTLINE documentary entitled Being Mortal. This free screening and discussion will be shown at the Deane Center on May 23 starting at 6:00 PM and concluding at 8:00 PM. This documentary is based on the bestselling book by Dr. Atul Gawande. In his book, Dr. Gawande shares about the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the doctors, nurses, and the family members who care for them. If you have any questions after the screening there will be staff there available to answer them.
As Suzanne stated, “we as human beings tend to plan for all life events, we plan for births, graduations, home ownerships, weddings and yet, the biggest universal life event that will happen to us all is the end of our lives and yet we don’t plan.”
It is usually comforting and affirming to plan ahead for those important passages of life.
This event is a program of UPMC Susquehanna’s Supportive and Palliative Care Services.
