Lady Tigers fall to rival Wellsboro, 54-29
The North Penn-Mansfield Lady Tigers lost a tough game to the Lady Hornets, 54-29 on Friday, January 6th.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to an early lead hitting two baskets, but a few early Wellsboro fouls kept the Lady Tigers in the game. Wellsboro led 10-6 after the first quarter. The Lady Hornets continued their hot streak in the second as they outscored Mansfield 13-9 to lead 23-15 at halftime, but broke the game open with an 18-point third quarter.
“Wellsboro is tough,” said head coach Nate McNamara. “They’ve got senior leaders, they’ve got scorers, they’ve got experience and that’s something we don’t have a lot of. Wellsboro’s a good team. We’re going to hit practice and clean up a couple things before we get on their level.”

Step Outdoors – What’s Up, Winter?
Winter is here! Well, kind of… Some areas have snow while others do not and the temperatures seem to warm each week between extreme cold snaps.
We’re making the most of winter and not sitting inside, but stepping outdoors!
The full series of events running throughout January and February is listed at StepOutdoors.org and includes a printable flyer to post on your fridge or at work as a reminder to get out and be more active this winter!
You never know what nature will throw at us next, but most events are designed to be flexible based on snow or ice conditions. The real question now based on the forecast is, what will the January 21st Winterfest at Hills Creek be like?

North Penn Liberty tops Cowanesque Valley 51-41
Drake Schmouder led the North-Penn Liberty Mounties with 17 points in a 51-41 victory over the Cowanesque Valley Indians on January 11.
The Mounties fell behind 6-0 in the early moments, but quickly composed themselves and got on the board. Timely defense and inside scoring allowed North-Penn Liberty to withstand a hot shooting start by the Indians, which included 6 three-point field goals. Brandyn Choplosky’s put back at the buzzer pulled the Mounties within one point to close the half 26-25.
North-Penn Liberty took control of the game in the second half by way of their defense, limiting Cowanesque Valley to just 6 points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Mounties offense hit its stride behind the balanced second half scoring of Schmouder, Choplosky, and Garrett Bickhart.
The Mounties outscored the Indians 12-9 in the final frame to seal the 51-41 victory.

Climb to Fitness at MU
Have you ever felt stuck in a fitness rut? Done with dumbbells. Tired of the treadmill. Sick of sit-ups. Let’s explore a fresh fitness option to break up the monotony!
Climbing is a great fitness pursuit. Whatever your experience level, climbing helps to increase your flexibility and physical strength. Overcoming the challenge of climbing also benefits your mental strength. There are, clearly, many advantages to this adventurous exercise.
A great location for that climb to take place is the Kelchner Fitness Center at Mansfield University. Their indoor climbing wall allows for year round climbing. They also offer equipment rental, which makes it a great option for beginners who want to test climbing out. The Kelchner climbing wall is certainly a fitness asset to Tioga County.
