Weekly Highlights – 11/28/16 – 12/02/16
It’s time once again to take a look at what happened the past week. The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH $66,000?
Allison Sintons was rich. At least, she was richer than she had ever been. At the age of 22 she was better off than most her age. Her step grandfather had recently passed away and, to her surprise, had left her an inheritance of $66,000. Within two years, not only was she broke – she racked up $7,000 of credit card debt. When asked what she would do if given a second chance, she admits she probably wouldn’t change her spending habits and that her regret isn’t so much tied to her lavish spending, but that she ran out of money to spend. But does Allison having a spending problem…or a heart problem? For some reason, her heart was not satisfied with the things she already had. But even buying everything she thought she wanted didn’t satisfy her. In this Thanksgiving season we once again have the opportunity to examine the condition of our hearts. How thankful are you for the many blessings you enjoy every day? Or maybe, more importantly, how thankful are you for the difficult circumstances that you face? Because the reality is, God has allowed both the good and the bad into your life for one reason – to point you to Christ. This Thanksgiving season, remember to look to Him as you thankfully consider the life that He has given you.

WELLSBORO GIRLS BASKETBALL PREVIEW 2016
The 2016 girls basketball season is quickly approaching, and the Lady Hornets are back on the court gearing up for their opening game next weekend. Wellsboro returns a solid core from last season, who saw plenty of playing time, and Coach Davis is hoping that last year’s post-season play will help the girls this season. “Whenever you have that kind of experience, there’s no replacement for it,” commented Davis. “The girls grew a lot last year and that experience will carry over to this season.” Wellsboro starts their season on Friday, December 9 in the Muncy Rotary Tournament before their first regular season game with Coudersport on December 12.

SOUND OF THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME
Today on Wellsboro Home Page we want to say thanks and give a shout-out to one of those organizations who contributed to that winning spirit. The Wellsboro High School Marching Band. We visit with Band Director Veronica Callahan and Drum Major Mackenzie Chilson to discuss the band and the inspiration they bring. We talked about the progress made over these past couple of years, the ON FIRE theme for this season’s performances, and the challenges of leading a marching band. We also find out what was going through Mackenzie’s mind the very first time she took the field to lead the band.
Thanks for watching today’s broadcast. Don’t forget to say thank you to our Wellsboro Home Page Marching Band members for their contribution. And thanks again to the Penn Wells Hotel, Mansfield University and all of our Home Page family of advertisers for supporting our efforts of covering the Wellsboro Hornets football program this past season. Congratulations Hornets!
