Come Fly With Me!
For years, the Canyon Pilots Association has been awarding scholarships to high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in starting a career in aviation. Today on Home Page, Tom Freeman tells us about the many opportunities that are available.
Blake Weller, a 2011 Wellsboro High School graduate, has taken full advantage of the scholarship he received. He started his flight training at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and has been there for over five years. After four years of hard work, dedication, training, and schooling, he currently holds a job as a flight instructor at this prestigious university where it all began.
“It’s not just flying,” Weller stated, “there’s so much more to it.” He went on to explain the feelings he had during his journey from Daytona back to Wellsboro, and spoke of all the changes, aircraft, and people that he encountered along the way. Weller encourages everyone to try a flight for themselves, as it has been a “great adventure,” and “an unexplainable experience.”
Home Page would like to congratulate Blake on all of his many accomplishments!
If you are a sophomore or junior in high school and are interested in seeing how this scholarship program can help you, contact the Wellsboro Johnston Airport at (570) 724-3746.
