25 Years of Empowerment

25 Years of Empowerment

by Deb Bastian - March 15, 2022

In their 25th year, Partners In Progress is educating and supporting our family members and friends in Tioga Country who have intellectual and other disabilities. They work with people from 14 years of age through adulthood to develop skills that can allow the individual to be as independent as possible. Job-skills training, supported employment, and many programs are provided that meet the unique needs of the individuals they serve. As Irene Morgan, Executive Director, shared with me, “their goal is total Immersion into the community”.

An amazing number of programs and services are provided for PIP individuals. From Day Programs where individuals return to their home afterward, to 24 hour Residential Services where there is assistance around the clock, Irene and the staff tailor programs to meet the needs and abilities of the individual. There are 95 staff members, except during summer camps when the number of employees soars to 200! Included in the staff is a Director of Residential Services, Director of Program Services, and a Director of Student and Career Development. Each Director has departments and employees for which they are responsible. There is also a Janitorial Administrator. Their position oversees 30 contracts with local businesses to provide cleaning services by a team of PIP individuals.

Throughout the coming months, Mansfield Home Page News is looking forward to talking with Partners In Progress employees, visiting the programs, and sharing about the services offered. This is truly a vital and caring part of our community that lives their mission every day: “to empower individuals with disabilities to succeed.”
