2023 Laurel Festival Highlights Part 2 | Queen Coronation

by Sara Vogt - June 21, 2023

On Saturday evening, June 17th, the Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival Queen Coronation ceremony occurred at the Wellsboro High School Auditorium. The masters of the ceremony for the night were Mark Hamilton and Ken Van Sant. The judges for the evening were Jake Michaels, Renata Stiehl, and Marti Shabloski.

The auditorium was filled with community members, many of whom were family and friends of the Laurel Festival Queen candidates. They all came to cheer the young women on as they represented their schools with dignity and grace.

The ten finalists were called to sit up front on the stage and asked to choose one envelope out of a basket of random questions to answer for the judges and audience. When the queen candidates finished, the judges convened to deliberate.

When the ten women returned, Mark and Ken called out Miss Towanda, Katherine West, to be the second runner-up, Miss Congeniality, and Miss Montoursville, Melody Rzeszotarski as the first runner-up.

Miss Warrior Run, Emma Podobinski, to be the 2023 State Laurel Festival Queen. Emma plans on attending Houghton University in the fall.

Congratulations to all the queen candidates for being selected by their schools to represent their community.
