Fair Tea Party Yields Royal Success!

by Andrew Moore, Sara Vogt - August 13, 2015

The Tioga County Fair is a much beloved event steeped in tradition and family fun, but there’s always something new to see and experience. Do you have an idea you’d like to see come to life at the fair? Today’s feature is the result of two women who had an idea and worked together to bring it to our county.

Wednesday, August 12, the fair was graced by the presence of many little nobles as girls from around the county joined the Fair Queens and Dairy Princesses for a tea party. Over 50 young ladies (ages 9 & under) each received a crown, wand, and goodie bag as they socialized with the Fair Queens and Dairy Princesses and took part in many fun activities. The event is not only a special treat for the girls, but also potential recruiting grounds for future Fair Queens and Dairy Princesses.

This royal occasion was the brainchild of Tioga County Fair Queen Coordinator, Jenn Thomas, and Lisa Remley of the Tioga County Dairy Princess Promotion Program. “Some other fairs do this kind of program to increase the number of girls for their fair queen programs,” said Thomas. “I thought this would be a good program to bring in with the Dairy Princesses so they can do some recruiting as well.”
