You’re Invited to Christmas on Main Street This Weekend!
On this broadcast, Ellen Dunham Bryant, President of the Wellsboro Hotel Company, joins Sara Vogt, Home Page Vice President, to discuss Wellsboro’s sixth annual Christmas On Main Street weekend, Friday through Sunday, December 10th through the 12th.
Ellen mentioned that Christmas on Main Street honors and celebrates the history of the Corning Glass plant and its production of the shiny brites. Visit over 30 Wellsboro locations displaying these historic ornaments made at the Corning Glass Factory in Wellsboro beginning during World War 11. During this production time, the Wellsboro plant supplied approximately 90 percent of all Christmas bulbs made worldwide. Some local shops have shiny brites for you to purchase and take home to enjoy for years to come.
There are many activities for you to learn about the history of this time, like the Historic Walking Tour, which departs from the Penn Wells Hotel Lobby. Pre-registration is required. Call 570-724-2111 to register.
Each day is filled with different activities for the entire family from Friday to Sunday. Some include the Light parade on Friday night, the showing of The Grinch at the Arcadia Theatre on Saturday for one dollar, a Live Nativity at the Deane Center lawn, Santa’s reindeer, a Victorian House tour, and the Museum Pop-up Store.
For a full schedule, please visit the Christmas on Main Street’s Website here https://www.wellsborochristmasonmainstreet.com/schedule.html.
Look for the Home Page videos about the Lives Behind The Glass showing at the following locations: Museum Pop Up Store, The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center, and the Canyon Motel.
