Worldwide Knit In Public Day Highlights
It was a beautiful day for crafting and community this past Saturday, June 14th, as the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum hosted Worldwide Knit in Public Day. The event kicked off at 10 AM and was organized by renowned local knitter Linda Voss-Plummer, who has proudly coordinated the gathering for an impressive 16 years.
Knitters from across the region came together, joined by local shepherds and herders, to celebrate fiber arts in the fresh mountain air. The day featured toe-tapping music from The Hey-makers and an inspiring talk by Jennifer Haines on suffragette Martha Coffin Wright, titled “A Very Dangerous Woman.”
The Potter County Historical Society was also on-site with a special display of historic fiber pieces. One heartfelt highlight was the distribution of free “knitted hug” patterns, created in memory of Larkin Hayman, a beloved advocate for clients of A Way Out.
From yarn to history to harmony, the day was filled with warmth, camaraderie, and creativity.
