Winterfest 2018 Highlights
This past weekend was a fantastic time for many to Step Outdoors and enjoy the annual Winterfest event for 2018 at Hills Creek State Park. There was sledding, ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow biking, ice fishing and more. Even snowmen were found having a great time. Home Page correspondent Stacey Dondey was there to catch the action.
Melvin Stafford who is a Civil War Soldier Reenactor was there with a display of civil war items. He shows Home Page viewers clothing, weapons, cooking gear, and other Civil War items. Melvin enjoys talking to people about the history of the Civil War here in Pennsylvania.
Jessica Deluccia who is an Interpretive Environmental Technician talked to us about snowy owls. With some of the colder temperatures that we have been experiencing this winter Snowy Owls have migrated from, the more Northern regions into Pennsylvania.
Later on, in the broadcast, Tim Morey and Bill Trujillo teach us how to cross-country ski! Tim does the instructing while Bill handles the demonstration side of things. It’s Bill’s first time. He does a fantastic job and may have a future as a ski instructor. Bill said that this was something that he has always wanted to do. And, he got to do it for our Home Page cameras.
Rhonda Pearson wraps up today’s broadcast by updating you on upcoming events. For more information and a complete schedule of the winter outings for 2018 visit StepOutdoors.org.
