Winter Adventures for 2016

Tim Morey invites you to join the upcoming winter wonderland fun!

by Chloe Quimby, , - December 22, 2015

Though we in Wellsboro seem to have avoided a harsh winter thus far, snow season is coming! With it, there are a number of fun, outdoors activities designed to keep us moving and warm. WHP correspondent Tim Morey reminds residents that the Community Ski Club is a great opportunity for families to hit the slopes. Their program for kids K-12, with parent/guest rates as an added bonus, is available through Wellsboro Parks and Recreation (http://www.wellsbororecreation.org/). There are deeply discounted ski passes, as well as a midweek travel deal for interested parties.

The 2016 Winter Outing Series begins with the First-Day Hike & 5K Fun Run on January 1st at Hills Creek State Park. A longer hike will be held the following day, January 2nd, at Sand Run Falls. Other activities include a snowman building contest at Ives’ Run on Sunday, January 10th, and a rock climbing open house at Kelchner Fitness Center, Friday, January 15th.

Finally, don’t miss Winterfest at Hills Creek on Saturday, January 16th. There’s fun to be had by those of all ages, as well as free hot dogs and chocolate as long as the supply holds out. More details regarding any of the events can be found at www.StepOutdoors.org.

Check out the Outdoor Store in January of 2016–they’ve got something new you’ll want to take a look at.
