Williamson edges North Penn-Liberty soccer, 3-2
It was a Tioga County soccer battle on Wednesday, October 4 as the North Penn-Liberty Mounties hosted the Williamson Warriors.
Williamson punched it in early as Andrew Learn found Simon Fish open down the field for the first score of the game.
The Mounties answered back with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the half. Nathaniel Johnson sent a floater over the Warrior defense to set up a Luke Yoder breakaway for the easy goal.
Second half, the Warriors found the goal again as Learn dribbled past multiple Mounties to swing it in from the side, making the score 2-1 with 20:18 on the clock.
Six minutes later, Fish would boot it in again off an assist by Andrew Hackett. North Penn-Liberty immediately followed up, by cleaning up a messy play in the box. Yoder sent in his second goal of the night, bringing the Mounties, making the score 3-2.
North Penn-Liberty had a huge opportunity to tie the game up, as Johnson launched a shot just inches past the top of the post with only seconds remaining. But the clock ran out, signaling Williamson’s victory, 3-2.
