Why Home Page? A message from our president.

Why Home Page? A message from our president.

by John Vogt - March 4, 2022

The Home Page Network is now operating in Wellsboro, Mansfield, Blossburg, Canton, Troy, and Lord willing this summer, Erie, PA. We also produce HPN NEWS and Home Page Sports. It’s a lot of hard work and sacrifice by all our Home Page management and staff. What we do is often taken for granted. The hours are ridiculously long. The “thank-yous” from the community help recharge our batteries and keep us going when we are at the point of exhaustion. So, why do we do this?

Now more than ever before, there is a great need for positive media. People need hope! We understand that there is a place for responsible, hard news coverage. But, overall, the programing in today’s media world is way out of balance. The constant focus on human pain and suffering – rape, robbery, murder, mayhem, and political discord- has a tragic impact on our nation’s mental health and well-being. We are losing the heart and soul of our country. Civil discourse is often a thing of the past. In today’s media world, they keep stirring the proverbial pot keeping us at each others’ throats, never giving broken relationships any time to heal. And regarding the next big story, if it bleeds, it leads.

When Home Page has to cover a difficult story, we do our best to do it with dignity and respect, not milking a tragic situation for clicks. But, for the most part, what you will find here on The Home Page Network are good stories. We cover the positive things that happen here and the wonderful people who live here. We want to influence the communities we serve for good by holding up a different standard and encouraging positive media.

We are committed to educating and informing our audience and laughing and loving more in our programming effort. We are pro-family, faith and freedom. We support our local businesses. We support our local law enforcement and encourage participation in area church life. We love our football teams, but we also believe in covering wrestling, the swim team, our coaches, the band, tennis, golf, track and field, our senior citizens, young people and their dreams, businesses, community leaders, and even the local quilting guild. We are very inclusive and try to give a voice to everyone. Instead of click-baiting with some morbid tragedy, we are trying to build trust and relationships in the communities we serve. We want to bring people together, not drive them apart. We want to serve our communities well to the glory of God.

Another vital part of our vision and mission is to educate and train people, especially young people, in communication skills and leadership. Not everyone you see on Home Page is a polished and seasoned network news anchor. There is a reason for that. All of our Home Page students are building a quality portfolio that they have available to show a prospective employer or a college admissions representative. Communicators always rise to the top in whatever career path they choose.

The Home Page Network is a secular enterprise that serves our towns and communities with outstanding news and information. We are also a biblically-based organization and want God to be glorified in us and through us. We are a balance to today’s media, fully realizing that we are swimming against the current. You can help us swim and grow our vision for positive media by becoming a Vision Partner. Just click on the Vision Partner button on the right navigation bar of The Home Page Network’s main website. And, don’t forget to download The Home Page Network App from the App Store or Google Play. Lastly, help us spread the word. Tell your family and friends about our vision for positive media and encourage them to watch. Blessings!
